Rocky’s Road Trip

Packaging Design / Fall 2022 / Art Direction: Abby Guido

Process

Rocky’s Road Trip is an activity set designed for children (ages 8 and up) traveling in and around the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. This activity set includes 3 travel journal spreads, a polaroid camera to capture the special moments and a set of 8 colored pencils to complete the travel journal prompts. Rocky’s Road Trip is perfect for long travel days in the car, and provides kids a place to document their endeavors.

Before taking on this project, I sketched ideas for the shots I wanted to take in Adobe Stager. It was imperative to capture the best angles in Stager, as I wanted the viewer to see all dimensions of this packaging set.

Polaroid Camera & Travel Journal

The polaroid camera and journal prompts work together by taking a “Polaroid of the Day,” or a “P.O.T.D.,” and placing them into the journal. I wanted to include the camera to serve as an exciting feature to the packaging set and as a way for the user to remember what they experienced with their friends and family members throughout their days through the mountains. The 8 colored pencils that are included are used to write and draw within these journal spreads and are also named after different animals, parks, flowers and natural structures that are found with the Rocky Mountains, to add a fun and interesting touch to the packaging set.
