National Polar Bear Day

National Polar Bear Day

National Polar Bear Day is a holiday celebrated every February 27th, according to National Today, a space that allows everyone to celebrate a unique holiday for every day of the year. I chose this holiday to not only illustrate these amazing animals, but to research the many different facts about polar bears, along with the disheartening reality of how the rising temperatures are melting their natural habitat in the Arctic.

The ABC’s of Polar Bears

For each letter of the alphabet, I illustrated and described how each action and word pertained to a polar bear. I enjoy illustrating in a photorealistic style, so each of my 26 illustrations represent the actual color, texture and expression of how a polar bear acts in the Arctic. The entirety of the illustration is about 13 feet long and 8 inches high, a perfect size for a room and/or school classroom decor. All in all, I want my ABC Polar Bears to remind people that these types of animals coexist with us on this Earth and continually pay the price of climate change that humans create.
